So guys, I want to jump in to the world of the 3rd Watch Dogs.
There have been many issues with Ubisoft and allegations of misconduct and the missing of marks. Even with the release of the game it is hard to dismiss the actions of people and focus on all the parties that make the whole unit. However, there needs to be an acknowledgement of cutting the head of the snake.
Who is really in the rooms making decisions? What happens with follow-up. It does marr the enjoyment of the plate. The rotting smell in the fruit bowl. This needs a longer discussion looking at effectiveness of board, commitment to charge and more than just fixing marketing issues.
On to the business at hand though.
I have had flutters for Watch Dogs since the announcement of it being in London. Obviously, having the media-crowned King of Grime Stormzy as a playable character in the game certainly helped connect it to the soul of grittier London.
Unfortunately (or fortunately), 2020 is such a bull show that the story of Watch Dogs Legion doesn’t seem to far removed from current events.
I’ll be honest, I played some of Watch Dogs 2 and I wasn’t gripped with that. I instantly was enthralled with Watch Dogs Legion. I am completely aware that a large part of that is navigation through the recognisable streets of London.
The story started of with me stumbling through the mechanics and feeling out the workings of DedSec-a hactivist group that seeks to investigate and bring terrorists to justice. Some of the accents are dire, but my first playthrough had me adventuring in central London and reading some of the creative backstories of players that you can play as (why is everyone in my roster into BDSM and being broke?).
Though, it starts of with action and a terrorist attack, I cannot imagine that the story is going to be as captivating. Being able to play as a myriad of characters and the option of a permadeath in game, how do you really build a vested interest in the journey of a character? It woul dhave worked to have a main character with an option of bringing whoever you want to your team. What is Something to get excited about is multiplayer coming to Watch Dogs Legion in December.
There are a few issues such as the hair looking slightly shambolic, the dreads of my character were looking like early 2000’s Simss.
Despite this, I think the game feels great, playing for a couple of hour is pretty addictive and I can’t wait to get into the meat of the game and exploring London.
So enough of me going on.
Watch HERE for Chapter one!
